Luke Menard from Crawfordsville, IN opened with the song "Everybody's Talking" written by Harry Nilsson. Luke left the judges wanting a bit more. Randy of of the opinion that Luke Menard was rather pitchy through the whole song. Paula was of the mindset that he didnt choose the best song to open with and Simon said "It was forgettable". This definately wasnt the best way for Luke Menard to make his debut on American Idol's finals, however he did appear to be comfortable on the stage. For Indiana's sake lets hope Luke makes it to the next round of American Idol.
The other representative from the midwest to perform last night was Garrett Haley. Garrett from the small town of Elida, OH appeared overly nervous throughout his performance. This is something to be expected from a 17 year old teenager making an appearance on American Idol. Garrett Haley's song selection "Breaking up is hard to do" was written by N. Sedaka and H. Greenfield. The judges impression that he was "boring, whiny and terrified" I'm sure left Garrett Haley feeling less than confident. We wont have the results of last night performance until Thursday's airing of American Idol. Lets hope both Garret Haley and Luke Menard make it another round. While both these midwest performers didnt live up to the judges expectations the overall feeling was that most of the American Idol males were less than spectacular.
Tonight we will get to see the Indiana women perform. Amy Davis from Lowell, IN and Amanda Overmyer from Mulberry, IN both get to debut their talents in the showing of American Idols top 12 females tonight. Lets hope the gals out do thier male counterparts and leave the crowd wanting more!! Asia'h Epperson is a strong favorite for the women
